Description

Monday July 20th 6:00-8:00pm

We will be meeting at the River View Trailhead at the Ventura River Preserve.

*Please note that this hike will have one steep incline at the very beginning of the walk; but the rest of the trail is fairly flat.

What to Expect:

✨A slow meandering walk with lots of stops along the way to talk about and experience the individual plants around us. Usually no more than a mile in total distance.

✨Up close, personalized education about the plants currently growing, blooming, or emerging along the trail. Every walk is unique, in that every month, the climate and ecosystem shift through the seasons and there are new and exciting things to see and learn.

✨Moments for pause to explore deeper inquiry together.

✨Creative and Sensory exploration. We're not just going to talk about "Who" the plants are, but how to recognize them, what their subtle qualities are and how to use multiple senses to make a positive identification.

✨A THOROUGH follow up email with a recap of the plants we met and LOTS of local resources for deepening your learning and being able to carry what you learned forward into your own walks, hikes, and adventures!

Who are these walks for?

EVERYONE! These walks are good for all ages (but please do notify me if you are bringing children under 16, as it helps me plan ahead) and are generally fairly gentle, flat, and easy to navigate trails. If I am hosting a walk on a more challenging trail or intend to walk further than normal; I will note that in the walk's information. I also do host multiple walks throughout the year on a fully ADA accessible trail, so if you are interested in that, please let me know and I can point you to the dates of the walks that will be appropriate. If you have any questions or concerns about participating, please email me at [email protected]

*Children in arms (aka. carried the entire time) are Free of Charge. All other participants must register with a paid ticket.

What should I bring with me?

✨ Sturdy walking shoes (preferably closed toe) for walking on uneven ground

✨Layers of clothing as the weather may shift during our time together

✨ A water bottle and small snack (if desired)

✨ Any additional necessary outdoor care items you need: hiking poles, sunscreen, bug repellant, hat, sunglasses, etc. ✨ Any medical or safety equipment you may need participating in outdoor physical activities (inhalers, knee braces, Epi Pens, etc.)

✨ A journal, sketchbook, camera, or other means to document creative inspirations.  (We will be taking several pauses on our walk to sit with various flora)
