Ojai and Ventura County
The Ojai Community Farmers Market was founded by four community members who saw a need for a midweek farmers market that accepted local farmers, food artisans and makers who saw the importance of being local and community centered. It was important that the food at the market was organic, raised ethically without pesticides using the best farming practices possible. We focused on education about health and nutrition, and community connection to our food system as well as the importance of buying and eating locally grown food. Our intention was to encourage folks to ride their bike, walk or take our city trolley to the market, purchase good food while being supporting by community and enjoying local music and education for folks of all ages.
