Gully Stuffing, Log & Rock Check Dams
Join us for this hands-on workshop at our farm in Upper Ojai.
Description
A hands-on exploration of nature-based watershed restoration strategies, including gully stuffing, log check dams, one-rock dams, and other low-tech methods for slowing and spreading water across the landscape. Together, we’ll tend the woodland and watershed above the farm to increase landscape hydration, revive old ephemeral wetlands and springs, reduce erosion and flooding, and build greater fire resilience. Depending on rainfall and conditions, we may also plant cuttings and plugs to help restore and strengthen these wetland and watershed systems.
