New Sponsor Program

The Ojai Valley Green Coalition announces the inception of its Sponsor Program; an opportunity for businesses and individuals to participate in helping the Ojai Valley become a model green and sustainable community. Supporting the Ojai Valley Green Coalition is an investment in the future viability of our precious and fragile Ojai Valley ecosystem.

With over 400 members and rapidly growing, your financial sponsorship leverages the hundreds of hours a month already being donated by our dedicated volunteers. While our volunteers are our most valuable resource, we also need capital to cover non-profit status fees, purchase educational audio visual materials, pay for limited amounts of printed materials, and most importantly cover start-up expenses for our first ever Green Home and Building Tour slated for October 4th, 2008.

The sponsor program offers many perks to those who contribute, including a VIP Tour and Reception along with prominent display of your business name on our promotional materials. To participate in our Sponsor Program contact us at contactcommunications@ojaivalleygreencoalition.com

    Committee Meeting Dates

The Transportation Committee will meet on the First Monday of the month starting on May 5. We meet for an hour (honest!) from 7:30pm-8:30pm at 308 Drown Ave. Call 646-4832 if you have any questions. All are welcome.

    Planning for Earth Day

We had a small, but very productive, meeting tonight. Please take a moment to review the minutes.

Our tasks in the next two weeks are:

    1. Volunteer to help at the OVGC Transporation table at the Earth Day event on April 13, Oak Grove School. If you can volunteer, please contact Kenley. Any time slot between 9-5 will be welcome.

    2. Create a question that has a multiple choice or true/false answer on the topic of transportation. Read the Did you Know? thread to get some ideas. Post your ideas on our group page. An example would be: What percentage of students who live within two miles of school
    ride their bike? 1%, 2.5%, 5%, or 15%.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT and we need YOUR HELP. Deadline on both tasks is April 6.

Attend the Green California Summit and Exposition

The Green California Summit and Exposition takes place April 7th through 9th in Sacramento. There are classes, seminars and exhibits on a wide variety of sustainability subjects. You can download a free pass from the website. If you're interested in car pooling to this event call the OVGC at 653-0445.

Be a Watt Watcher @ Home

The OVGC Energy Committee has created an informational flier that takes a lot of the guesswork out of saving money, reducing energy consumption, and preventing greenhouse gas emissions.

    Committee Presentations Begin March 27th

The Ojai Valley Green Coalition is proud to announce the first of our monthly presentations. The meetings will all be on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00pm. We hope our neighbors will attend these informational presentations about how we can each work toward our mission of creating a model green and sustainable community. Please join us to learn and meet others in the valley who are working toward greening Ojai. All three of these programs will be presented at the Chaparral High School Auditorium, 414 E. Ojai Ave. next to the City's Park and Ride lot. See the upcoming events section for meeting information.

    What's Next?

The growing Ojai Valley Green Coalition has reached a milestone. Our organization is now incorporated and will receive official notification of non-profit status from the State of California within weeks.
    What’s next?
Each of the Action and Organizational Committees has plans for projects, advocacy activities, events or presentations to the public. There are inevitable costs associated with these activities. This much enthusiasm, momentum, and action, requires resources; both human and tangible.
Where will it all come from?
From our members and from YOU! We could use your ideas, time, expertise and monetary contributions. There are costs involved in renting facilities for presentations, filming events for a future documentary, paying guest speakers for big events etc.

Too busy to get involved, but want to help in some way? Your cash donations are greatly appreciated. If every current member contributed just $25, the OVGC could put that cash infusion to immediate use. Membership is free; the OVGC is relying on your generous donations to make a difference.

    Here’s how you can help:
To offer your time and expertise, simply click on ‘Join Us’ and follow the prompts.

    To make a tax-deductible donation:
Make your check out to the OVGC and mail to:

    OVGC
    P. O. Box 878
    Ojai, CA. 93024

    And thank you!
