Thursday September 25- Ojai Valley Green Coalition Transportation committee presents the PBS Nova series
"Car of the Future" - 7pm at the Chaparral Auditorium, 414 E. Ojai Ave. Projections suggest that by 2050 there will be two billion vehicles on the world's roads, two and a half times as many as there are today. The "Car Talk" duo, brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi, hit the road in search of the car of the future in this 6 part series. The transportation committee will follow with a discussion of present and future transportation options in the Ojai Valley. For more information on the Nova presentation go to the Nova website.
Candidates for the two open positions on the Ojai City Council will face off in a forum presented by the Ojai Valley Green Coalition on Oct 27th, just a few days before the election in November. Unlike other candidates’ forums, this forum will focus on environmental issues specific to the Ojai Valley.
The Ojai Valley Green Coalition is proud to announce our ongoing monthly presentations. The meetings will all be on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00pm. We hope our neighbors will attend these informational presentations about how we can each work toward our mission of creating a model green and sustainable community. Please join us to learn and meet others in the valley who are working toward greening Ojai. All of these programs will be presented at the Chaparral High School Auditorium, 414 E. Ojai Ave. next to the City's Park and Ride lot. Event flyer is - HERE

The Ojai Valley Green Coalition announces the inception of its Sponsor Program; an opportunity for businesses and individuals to participate in helping the Ojai Valley become a model green and sustainable community. Supporting the Ojai Valley Green Coalition is an investment in the future viability of our precious and fragile Ojai Valley ecosystem.
With over 400 members and rapidly growing, your financial sponsorship leverages the hundreds of hours a month already being donated by our dedicated volunteers. While our volunteers are our most valuable resource, we also need capital to cover non-profit status fees, purchase educational audio visual materials, pay for limited amounts of printed materials, and most importantly cover start-up expenses for our first ever Green Home and Building Tour slated for October 4th, 2008.
The sponsor program offers many perks to those who contribute, including a VIP Tour and Reception along with prominent display of your business name on our promotional materials. To participate in our Sponsor Program contact us at contactcommunications@ojaivalleygreencoalition.com
The City of Ojai has produced a ‘Roadmap to a Sustainable Ojai’ The initial draft of this plan was presented at the City Planning Commission in March, 2008. The plan’s areas of focus coincide with the focus of our action committees. The Ojai Valley Green Coalition is listed as a partner to help ‘share ownership and responsibility for designing, developing, and delivering a successful sustainable community…’
Are you interested in participating? Whether you just want to stay informed, donate a few bucks or roll up your sleeves and join a committee, you are invited to be a part of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition. Following are some ways you can participate.
People become OVGC members because they care passionately for the health, environment and ecosystems of the Ojai Valley. There is bound to be a broad diversity of opinion with regards to priorities, methods, and even goals. The OVGC strives to be inclusive and to promote discussion of various and sometimes conflicting viewpoints. Hence the action committee area below devoted to blogs, edited by OVGC committee chairs, and dedicated to such possibly dissenting, yet lively discussions, do not necessarily reflect the official OVGC editorial position.
