The fun begins Saturday, April 24th at Rotary Park across from the Vons shopping center where Ojai Rotarians will be promoting use of alternative transportation, the history of Rotary Park, and the Ojai bike trail.
Be sure to join EarthWalk at 10am to get to the Ojai Meadows Preserve for EarthPlay on the Meadow. EarthWalk has been an Ojai tradition to honor the Earth beneath our feet for years. Join Ojai friends in taking a stand for this beautiful place we live!
Participants at Rotary Park will have an opportunity to enter a Rotary sponsored contest to win a folding Dogleg electric bike provided by Project-Ride in Meiners Oaks. Arrive at Rotary Park on a bike, on foot, a skateboard or skates, carpooling, riding the trolley or other alternative transportation participants will earn the first of 5 stamps on a contest game card.
If you have to bring the car, earn your first punch by parking it at the old Ojai Ford parking lot and joining EarthWalk to the Ojai Meadows Preserve at 10am for EarthPlay on the Meadow.
At EarthPlay, participants on bikes can park them safely at the Ojai Valley Green Coalition’s bike valet and learn more about alternative transportation while there.
David Binstein an 8th grader from Charter Oaks School, with the help of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition and mentor Mary Sequoia Hamilton, has been working with the City of Ojai to provide free trolley service on Earth Day for his school community service project. The trolley will stop in front of EarthPlay and at Rotary Park every 30 minutes throughout the day. David will host a table where he will help promote increased ridership for the Ojai Trolley which is currently facing budget cuts that could result in the reduction of Trolley service in the Ojai Valley.
