March 25, 2009: 'Coming Clean'

Between now and March 25, residents of the Ojai Valley will be reading a new book: Coming Clean: Breaking America’s Addiction to Oil and Coal. The author, Michael Brune, the Executive Director of the Rainforest Action Network, will come to Ojai on March 25 to discuss the ideas in his book. The event flyer is Here and the event bookmark is available Here for downloading.

The book can be checked out of the library or purchased for $15 at the bookstore Twice Sold Tales, next to the library in downtown Ojai. It will also be available at all Ojai Valley Green Coalition events.

At 7 p.m. on March 25 at Chaparral High School Auditorium, 414 E. Ojai Avenue, Michael Brune will provide a road map, showing how we can promote real solutions and create collective pressure on government and corporations to change their energy priorities. Brune will track how consumer demand for oil and coal affects national policy and international finance, and will then describe the most promising developments in renewables, biofuels, and efficient design. Finally he will outline an inspiring vision of a viable clean-energy future.

Everyone is welcome to attend the presentation, whether they have read the book in advance or not. The event is being co-sponsored by the Ojai Valley Library Friends and Foundation and the Ojai Valley Green Coalition. With each copy of the book, a free bookmark to serve as a reminder of the community event will be provided. For further information, contact the Ojai Valley Green Coalition at (805) 653-8445.

If you bear from anxiousness or a bad dread, you are not isolated; this is a part of the human condition. But we don’t have to suffer unendingly because anxiety has an intrinsic construction in the form of terrible thoughts and beliefs powered by emotional energy that has got inert in place. Reveal these patterns of negative thoughts and you are on the way to reaching sizable change.

I downloaded Grand Theft Auto IV last week and, despite the fact its a"dusty" game, its the best PS3 game in my opinion ;)
