The Ojai Valley Green Coalition is partnering with the Ojai Library, The Ojai Valley Library Friends and Foundation and the Krotona Bookstore to sponsor the second book in their Ojai Reads series. The reading period for The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight by Thom Hartmann is from August 1 through November 3. It is 370 pages long and subtitled ‘The Fate of the World and What We Can Do Before It’s Too Late.’ There will be a group discussion about the book on Nov. 3, 7 pm at the Ojai Library. Between now and March 25, residents of the Ojai Valley will be reading a new book: Coming Clean: Breaking America’s Addiction to Oil and Coal. The author, Michael Brune, the Executive Director of the Rainforest Action Network, will come to Ojai on March 25 to discuss the ideas in his book. For this year’s annual Ojai Day on October 18, the Ojai Valley Green Coalition will offer attendees a free bike valet service. To reduce the number of cars descending on the downtown area as people arrive for the festivities, the OVGC Transportation Committee will set up the bike check service in the library parking lot. The coalition hopes to encourage attendees to benefit the environment by pedaling to the event, rather than driving.
